TMAC Gives Back

For the second year, we have spent an evening helping to package food for TMAC Gives Back, a food drive for local families. This year we helped to package Christmas dinners for 405 local families! The next morning several swimmers came to help deliver the food although I have no pictures of those who helped to load or drive cars.

Thanks for all of your help!

Season opener 2011

Wednesday marked our first meet of 2011. We finished closer to Hopkinton than we ever have and turned in several great times along the way. This meet was also significant in that it was our first ever meet in which we had divers! Congratulations to David, Lindsay, and Joanna for setting the bar for all future divers!

In lane 3, Alex is on his way to a new school record in the 100 fly - take a look at the great support he is getting from his teammates!

Tonight's "Game Goggles" go to Colby. We have been working on racing throughout our events and on being "the first hand on the wall." Colby did that in every race he swam and he turned in very strong performances along the way!
Congratulations to all our first year swimmers who had a great start to their swimming careers!
Congratulations to Madie on her States qualifying cut and to Olivia on her sectionals qualifying time!

States!

This season we had our first ever qualifiers to States, in any event, individual or relay. Olivia qualified in the 100 back and 200 IM and Madie in the 200 and 500 free. They worked hard to get to this point and we are all proud of their accomplishments!

Like at Sectionals, Olivia and Madie had a large and loyal cheering section - people came in and out but all told there were about 12 swimmers who made the trip to Harvard to cheer them on. The support they showed was tremendous!

Madie finished 11th in the 500 and set a new school record in the process.

Thanks, everyone, for your loyalty and support!

Sectionals!

On Sunday Olivia and Madie became the first Norton swimmers to compete in individual events at Sectionals. Olivia qualified in the 200 IM and 100 back and Madie in the 200 and 500 free. Both athletes swam well and represented their community well! With a 12th place finish in the 100 back Olivia earned a point for Norton, tying for 32nd place with TVL Champs Hopkinton.

The best cheering section in the building!

There were TWELVE Norton swimmers who made the trek into MIT to cheer Olivia and Madie on (I never did manage to get a shot with all 12...). They came in purple beads, Norton tshirts, and even purple hair dye! They brought posters to cheer on their teammates and gave them goody bags for luck. I couldn't have been prouder of the support they showed!

Hi guys,

I've been mentioning highlights in these posts. Personal bests deserve to be showcased too and often I miss them when looking over our meet results.

Anytime you swim a personal best please add it in the comment section of that meet's coverage!
